The Dachshund, also known as the Dackel or Teckel, is a German breed of short-legged, long-bodied dog of hound type. It may be smooth-haired, wire-haired, or long-haired, in various colors. The Miniature is the second of AKC / KC's 3 Dachshund varieties: KC: ideal weight 4.5 kg (10 lb), desired maximum 5 kg (11 lb); the AKC gives the same 11 lb ceiling at 12 months and older; FCI 148 sizes the same variety by chest circumference instead, over 32-37 cm for dogs and over 30-35 cm for bitches; one range for both sexes. Typically 4.5–5 kg full-grown.
