Delete your Kintail account

Last updated: 14 September 2026

Kintail, published by Kintail App, is your pup's journal, and it is yours to close. You can delete your account and everything we hold for it from inside the app, or ask us to do it for you if you can't get in. Either way it is a real deletion, not a deactivation: nothing is put on ice waiting for you to change your mind.

1Two ways to ask

Yourself · instant

Delete it now

The button below opens Kintail in this browser and asks you to confirm. Nothing to install, nothing to wait for — it takes effect the moment you confirm. If you're not signed in on this device it asks you to sign in first, then picks the question back up.

Inside the app it is the same single question, under Profile → Delete account, at the foot of the page.

Delete my account

By email · if you can't sign in

Ask us to delete it

If you've lost access to the email address your account uses — or can't sign in for any other reason — no self-serve button can help. Email us and a person will do it for you.

  1. Email support@kintail.app with the subject Delete my Kintail account.
  2. Tell us the email address your account uses, and your pup's name.
  3. We'll verify it's you, delete the account, and email you when it's done.

Export first, if you want a copy. Everything Kintail keeps is plain, portable markdown — your pup's days, weights, milestones and health records as readable text files. Before you delete, Profile → Your data → Export bundles the lot into a file you keep. Once the account is deleted we cannot get any of it back for you.

2What deleting removes

Deleting your account removes your sign-in and everything stored in the cloud for the household you keep on your own:

WhatGone
Your accountYour sign-in, email address, display name, password and any linked Google sign-in.
Your pupsEvery pet on your roster — active and archived — and their profiles.
Your recordsEvery markdown document: daily check-ins, weights, goals and milestones, heat cycles, vaccinations and vet visits, food catalogues, journal entries and notes.
Your photosThe image files themselves, deleted from our photo storage — not just the rows that point at them.
Anything derivedGrowth charts and percentile data, AI-written tales, chapters and daily tips, and the summaries that power Insights.
SharingYour household membership, your community group memberships, any pets you shared into a group, and pending invites you sent.
Support historyAny "Report an issue" reports you filed, including the reply-to address and message text.
DevicesPush notification tokens and calendar feed links, so nothing keeps arriving after you go.

The copy of your records on your own phone or computer is yours to keep or to erase, and the confirmation asks you which. Leave the option off — it is off unless you turn it on — and those files stay exactly where they are; turn it on and they are erased from this device along with the account. Uninstalling the app removes them too.

3What is kept, and for how long

A few things outlive the account, either because they are no longer ours alone or because the law says so. This is the complete list.

WhatWhyHow long
A shared household's records If someone else is in your household, the pets and records belong to the household, not to you alone. Your membership and your name come off them; the records stay with the people still there. Ownership passes to a remaining member. As long as that household exists
Billing records Australian tax and accounting law requires us to keep records of payments taken. 7 years
Your app-store subscription Not ours to delete — see below. Until you cancel it
Abuse and safety records If content was reported and acted on, the record of the decision is kept so the same abuse can't simply be repeated. 12 months
Backups and diagnostic logs Encrypted infrastructure backups and scrubbed crash reports roll over on their own schedule rather than being edited in place. A deleted account is never restored from one. Rolling — they age out on their own

Your subscription is separate — cancel it too

If you pay for Kintail+ or Kintail Family, the subscription itself is held by Google Play, the App Store or our web billing provider — not by us — so deleting your Kintail account does not cancel it and does not refund it. Cancel the subscription first, in the Subscriptions section of the store you bought it from, or you may keep being charged for an account that no longer exists. We delete our own record of what you were entitled to; the store keeps its own record of the purchase.

4How long it takes

  • In the app — immediate. The account and its data are removed as you confirm, and you're signed out.
  • By email — we verify it's you, delete the account, and email you when it's done. We answer support mail ourselves, so it is a person reading it, not a queue.
  • Backups — a deleted account can linger in an encrypted infrastructure backup until that backup rolls over. Backups are never used to restore a deleted account, and nothing is ever put back.

5If you change your mind

You can't — and that is deliberate. Kintail does not deactivate, freeze or soft-delete an account: once it is deleted there is nothing to restore, by us or by you. If you might want your pup's history later, export it before you delete (Profile → Your data → Export). You are always welcome to start a new account afterwards, and you can import an export back into it.
