How to read a puppy weight chart
A weight chart estimates how much of their adult weight a puppy has reached at a given age, based on their breed's typical adult range and a published growth standard for a dog of that adult weight — Salt et al. 2017 (PLoS ONE, from six million primary-care weight records), or the breed's own published curve where one exists. Smaller dogs mature faster; larger dogs grow for longer.
When to check with your vet
See your vet if your puppy is losing weight, isn't gaining over several weeks, or seems very far from the typical range for their breed. Body condition (how easily you can feel their ribs, whether they have a waist) tells you more than the scale alone, and your vet can assess both.

Frequently asked questions
How big will my puppy get?
That depends mostly on breed and sex; a mixed breed usually lands between its parent breeds.
How fast do puppies grow?
Small breeds reach close to adult weight by about 10–12 months; large and giant breeds keep filling out until 18–24 months. Growth is fastest in the first few months, then tapers.
My puppy is below or above the band — should I worry?
Not on its own. Healthy puppies vary, and a steady upward trend matters more than any single weigh-in. If you're concerned about their weight or body condition, ask your vet.
